Hey,
I’ve just tried running cmips on an f1-micro google compute instance. It gets to ‘Starting thread 200 at Tue May 9 09:53:36 2017’ and just stays there doing nothing. Is this to be expected?
Yes, this is normal. With a very small server cmips can take 6 to 12 hours to complete.
In a very fast instance it can take 50 seconds or less.
As typical small instances have 1 core, and the process starts 200 threads, it is a loot of work and a lot of time to complete.
After the initial results I decided to focus on benchmarking the most powerful servers. As the small have small interest.

You should consider doing an inclusion of DigitalOcean’s new High-CPU plans: https://www.digitalocean.com/products/compute/high-cpu/
